Associate Pastor Position at CRCC

As many of you know, the board approved a search for an associate pastor back in May of this year. This position is not like any we have hired for before. Together with the staff, the decision was made to look for an associate pastor who could not only shepherd our Jr. and Sr. High students, but also increase our capacity to serve in another key aspect of our vision (to be determined by the gifts and passions of the person we hire).
Anyway, since that time we’ve been spending many, many hours searching for the right fit with Columbia Ridge. I’ve been so proud of the team that has been reviewing resumes (all fifty or so of them) and doing interviews and phone calls (again, many, many hours of these). They’ve been praying and discussing and thinking all along the way. This core interview team consists of the ministry staff (myself, Pastor Dave, the worship director - Sherry Grey, chidlren’s ministry director - Judy Miller, and our small groups director - Donnie Norlen). In addition, our high school leaders have reviewed the top candidates and chose one from their group (Chelsea Finch) to be a part of the interview and decision process. It has been a delight. Beyond this, we’ve asked the present adult youth sponsors to participate in informal “meetings” in order to get their input when a candidate is in town. It has been great.
Honestly, I’ve been very amazed at the people God is bringing our way for consideration. Let me tell you…they are top-notch! At this point we’re just weeks away from making a decision on who we’ll ask to come on board. We’ve narrowed it down to the top three and now are waiting to spend a long weekend with the last candidate we’re flying in. So please be praying, church family. Be praying that the search team listens for God’s leading and that his leading is clear. Please pray for each of our candidates, especially our top three, as we’ve built significant relationships with them. Finally, please pray that this process would be part of God’s expansion of His Kingdom - at CRCC, beyond CRCC, and in the lives of each of the candidates.
