Hope for Haiti

It’s been almost two weeks since a catastrophic earthquake hit the Haiti, and devastation and chaos is added daily to a country that already knew poverty and underdevelopment. It is estimated that 150,000 are dead in Haiti’s capital, hundreds of thousands are left homeless, and water, food and sanitation are scarce.

With staggering figures, mindblowing  statistics, and tragic photos, we are often left unsure where to begin to help. But we have a big God who is capable of anything, and He’s stirring hearts, comforting, rebuilding and providing hope even now.

On Sunday the 17th, we took a special offering for Haiti relief. Specifically, this offering was dedicated to the ongoing work of our partner on the ground, World Vision. They have many people on the front lines and have flown in much needed supplies.

If you would like to get involved further:

pray: For the country as a whole, for survivors and mourners, for those hungry and hurting, for those helping and providing aid. Pray for physical needs to be met, as well as comfort and healing. Pray in groups and individually. Remember, God hears our prayers, even when they’re so big they’re beyond our comprehension.

give: If you missed the opportunity and would like to give, or should you desire to give more, you may either write a check to Columbia Ridge, specifying Haiti Relief in the memo field, or you may give directly to World Vision. Every penny given goes directly to the people of Haiti through World Vision.

stay engaged: Keep up to date with what is happening in Haiti, constantly praying for what you read and pray about, and praising God for all that He has provided. World Vision posts constantly on Facebook, Twitter, and other media outlets about what is happening there, click here.
