If you’re new to this whole church thing, know that this may not be exceedingly clear. That’s okay. If you have any questions whatsoever, please feel free to contact us and don’t feel like you have to agree 100% with every one of these to show up at Columbia Ridge. At one point, we’ve all asked questions and been unsure, and would love to get the chance to welcome and love on you right where you are right now.
The Bible
We Believe the Bible is God’s word, written under the authority of the Holy Spirit and thus entirely without error. We believe the Bible has complete authority in all matters of faith and life (II Timothy 3:15-17, II Peter 1:21).
The Trinity
We Believe there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, equal in every divine quality, but with distinct and harmonious roles (Genesis 1:1, Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30).
God the Father
We believe God the Father is an infinite, perfect and eternal; the creator of all things, who concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, and gives life to all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is God in the flesh (John 10:33) and that He was born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:34-35), lived a sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, 7:26); performed miracles (John 2:11), was crucified for the sin of mankind (I Corinthians 15:3, Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 2:9) and rose from the dead (John 11:25, I Corinthians 15:4), ascended into heaven to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19) where He continually intercedes for His people, and one day will personally and visibly return to earth in power and glory (Acts 1:11, Revelation 19:11-13, Revelation 19:14-16).
The Holy Spirit
We believe Holy Spirit came from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, and to renew, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit lives in every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide (Romans 8:13-14, I Corinthians 3:16; I Corinthians 6:19-20, Ephesians 4:30; Ephesians 5:18).
Salvation
We believe that all are sinners by nature and choice and believe in the absolute necessity for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of the human nature. We believe that all are justified on the single ground of faith in Christ and the finished work of the cross, and that only by God’s grace through faith alone are we saved (John 3:16-19; John 5:24, Romans 3:23; Romans 5:8-9, Ephesians 2:8-10, Titus 3:5).
The Church
We believe the church is the body of Christ on earth today, and that Jesus Christ is the head. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers, and that the church exists to glorify God, edify believers, declare and demonstrate God’s justice and mercy for all, and share the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ with the world (Romans 8:9, I Corinthians 12:12-13, Galatians 3:26-28).
